Rythmbox Remote for Android

Rhythmbox Remote hits the Andoid Market today. This is the first android native app able to remotely control your lovely Rhythmbox player on Linux. Rhythmbox Remote doesn't stream music on your Android device,  it's not a internet radio server, it just use the plug-in Rhythmweb created by Pablo Carranza to control a popular Linux music player remotely.


Installation
  1. Download the latest version of "Rhythmweb" Hier.
  2. Unzip and copy the "Rhythmweb" directory to ~/.gnome2/rhythmbox/plugins
  3. Start Rhythmbox, go to Edit > Plugins, then check the enable checkbox for Rhythmbox.
  4. Go to the android market and get Rhythmbox Remote for free.
  5. Open the apps and select "Add new Server" on the apps.
  6. Provide the IP-address of your computer and the port of Rhythmweb (7001 is the default).
  7. You can now crontrol your music player and enjoy your music in the kitchen.

      if the SGS2 means Samsung Galaxy S2, YES the app schould support it.
      Try to use it and let me know if the app runs well.

    2. Hey. Im using the Galaxy Nexus now, and I can atleast install it. But Im still waiting for support for the newer version of Rhythmbox. Will it ever happen? :)

    3. Probably, I'm in touch with the guy whose developp the "Rhythweb-plugin". There are working on it, i'm also waiting of it. Just be patient and it will come.

  2. The app isn't compatible with my O1 runnin' CM7. Can you upload the .apk?

  3. hi, i'm trying to use the plugin with a Samsung Galaxy 1 and with a tablet 10.1.
    in both cases the plugin is working fine, since I can access and control the http server. however the app doesn't manage to access and says "server is unreachable". I suspect the issue may have to do with the access permission on the server: can you suggest me what to check? thx!

    1. Thank you for your feedback. I have take note and I will try to integrate it in the next version.
      I stopped the improvement of the app, beacause the Rhythmweb plug-in was not ported to the gtk3 and is not up-to date with new changes in Rhythmbox, that means the plug-in can't start for the most latest distribution of Linux.

      wich version of Rhythmbox do you use?

    "Rhythmbox isn't reachble! Make shore that Rhythmbox is running and the provided port:7001 match."
    How can I configure the port on the Rhythmbox??

  7. I forgot it! I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 and a Motorola XT530 (Android 2.3.5)
